Level 5 - Online Engineering Course Unit

Unit Aim

The aim of this online engineering course unit is to develop your skills and knowledge on how engineering companies operate, and the role of professional engineers within those companies. It will cover how social and economic changes can affect an engineering company, and the different strategies a company can use for change and growth.

The unit will also cover the management tools that a professional engineer will use, such as cost, risk, and project management.

In addition to tools, the unit will cover the behavioural skills which are important for engineering professionals. Strategies for communication and listening, as well as successful negotiation and persuasion skills.

Finally, the unit will look at the professional standards and obligations that an engineer has, and the role of the Engineering Council in defining these standards.
