Level 5 - Online Engineering Course Unit

Unit Aim

The aim of this online engineering course unit is to introduce you to the fundamental principles of fluid mechanics with relevant engineering applications.

Engineers require an understanding of the principles of fluids in many different engineering disciplines and applications such as hydraulic devices, turbines, flight mechanics, water supply, sewerage and irrigation.

This unit introduces you to fundamental laws governing static flow problems and then progresses to discover the implications of viscosity in real flows. Aerodynamic forces are then evaluated and finally the fluid mechanics surrounding real flow applications to machinery are studied.

You will be introduced to fluid mechanics methods and techniques to analyse and solve problems within an engineering context.
