There is now a greater emphasis on employer engagement and work readiness. Our new qualifications in Engineering are designed to reflect this increasing need for high quality professional and technical education pathways at Levels 4 and 5. These qualifications provide students with a clear pathway to employment, appropriate support during employment, and a recognised progression route to gain a BEng (Hons) degree via top-up with our partner UK university*.
An overview of our senior staff is outlined below and they are supported by several other engineering teaching professionals.
Lead Tutor 1 – Steven
Graduated from the University of Manchester in 1992 with a First Class Degree in Aerospace
Engineering, then completed his PhD at the University in Mechanical Engineering.
This was followed with several years working in the automotive industry in an R&D capacity.
Following this, he was employed as a Senior Lecturer within the Higher Education field
teaching on a variety on engineering courses where he gained a PCGE for Higher Education
and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Steven has a strong background in advanced engineering and mathematics, and has taught
the subject at all levels from GCSE to PhD level for 20+years.
Steven has been a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)
and has been registered as a European Engineer (Eur Ing) since 2003.
Lead Tutor 2 – Philip
Graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2009 with a First Class Masters (MEng) degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Since graduating Philip has over 10 years’ experience working in the aerospace industry. He has worked for a world leading aircraft manufacturing company in the development and industrialisation of some of the world’s most popular aircraft programmes.
Philip has a strong background of manufacturing and design engineering.
Philip has been a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)
since 2015.
